COLOURS

Sea breeze or
slick black

Cooling Cubes are available in two standard colours. Whichever you choose, your drinks will be kept just as cool for just as long. Our ice-blue sea breeze “Point Break” cubes are a little bit more expensive, because the raw material cost more.

We can produce other colours on demand. This usually requires an order of 300 Cooling Cubes. Companies interested in ordering should click here.

THIRSTY MINDS
HAVE GREAT IDEAS

It was a fantastic sunny day and we set off for the beach. We were feeling pretty cool, but by the time we got there our beer was disgustingly warm. So we lay on the beach sipping hot lager and dreaming of freshly poured ice-cold beer. And maybe a beach-chair. If we could combine the two, we would be in heaven.

When we got home we had a look to see if the perfect solution wasn’t already out there.
And then we did some serious thinking. 5 litres? A great size. Not too heavy to carry, but still plenty of beer. But the kegs aren’t very pretty. And they don’t stay cool on their own.

There were already a few cooling solutions for kegs available. But they were either difficult to carry, ugly, did not keep the keg cool – or all three.

We thought to ourselves: we can do better than that. And that’s how Cooling Cubes began.

You can probably guess the answer.

MATERIAL

EPP, NOT POLYSTYRENE.

Okay, it does look like polystyrene. But there is a big difference between EPP (expanded polypropylene) and regular polystyrene. Cooling Cubes are made by pressing balls of EPP into a mould and melting them together using steam. Because no chemicals are needed to make them stick together, they are completely harmless.
In fact, if you manage to chew a corner off your cube – maybe you’re a bit miffed that your team’s given away a goal in extra time? - it will come out the other end without doing any harm. Not that we recommend trying this. Because if you look after your Cooling Cubes they will last a lifetime. And if they should break, they can be fully recycled. Just pull the logo off the front first. Here are some reasons why EPP is better than polystyrene:

It’s stronger
EPP amazingly strong for its weight. Otherwise we wouldn’t tell you that you could sit on your cubes.

It’s amazingly light
Cooling Cubes weigh 600 g. Add another 600 g for a cooling block and the carrying strap, and that’s only 1.2 kg. If only the beer were lighter! But when you’re on the way home and tired, you can be pretty sure that there will be less to carry.

100% recyclable
Cooling Cubes can be completely recycled. If you can’t find anyone locally who recycles EPP, then send your old cubes to us and we will recycle them for you.

FAQ
For ages. For more than long enough for the keg to be empty. OK, you want concrete facts? Well, it does depend on how hot it is outside, how many cooling blocks you put in your cubes, and exactly how cold the beer and the blocks were, when you put them in. But our tests show an average increase in temperature of around 0.29°C per hour.
If your fridge is at 6° it should be almost 7 hours before your beer even reaches 8° - which is still pretty cool. Have a look at this curve for more information.
Yes, they’re made of EPP and 100% recyclable. You can find out more about recycling EPP at https://epp-forum.com/en/epp-and-environment/.
